The goal of this design was to create a space that references the history of Hindley Street, while improving the sector through slow design practices, development of urban interiors and increased
community engagement.
I selected a building from Hindley Street to be redesigned as a creative studio and artisanal boutique. Adaptive reuse strategies were implemented in this design process to retain the essence of the building in the final design outcome.

Developing a design language for the project:

In 1932, the first trolley bus line in both Adelaide and Australia was implemented, running from Payneham to Paradise via Hindley Street.

I pulled elements from this trolley bus to develop a design language that referenced the history of Hindley Street to be the basis of my design.
