My theme for this hotel design is 'Luxury and New Encounters', with a focus on framing elements and views to provide new perspectives and encounters within the space.

I explored the effects of delayed space, and how the the sense of spatial depth in the hotel room changes depending on the person’s position, how the space is used, and changes in sunlight and artificial lighting throughout the day.

Flattened Perspective
By layering linear elements that are uniform in size, the viewer’s attention is focused on a two-dimensional surface. The curtain was used to soften the room’s corner, creating the illusion of flatness from this vantage point.

Exploring Variable Depth
Over the course of the day, changes in lighting and use of the space changes the sense of depth.
In this render, the afternoon western sunlight and use of artificial lighting creates more highlights and shadows in the space, making it feel deeper.

Foreshortening Depth
The diminishing views through the window and the reflection in the mirror elongates the space from this perspective, giving the room a sense of being larger than it actually is.
